Chillin’ in Jamaica!: After a couple of nights of partying in Port Antonio, many of the crews are now heading off for a couple of days to explore Jamaica before the race re-starts on Friday. Port Antonio is proving to be a perfect spot for a bit of R&R for the Clipper crews, with beautiful sandy coves to explore and plenty of laid back bars and restaurants to while the hours away in!
A delegation from Glasgow hosted a party on Sunday at Belmont Villa in Port Antonio for the Glasgow crew who had arrived into port in the early hours of the morning. Among the guests were British High Commissioner Jeremy Cresswell and his partner Dr Barbara Munske.
With the Glasgow Clipper anchored in San San Bay, guests enjoyed an afternoon of Glaswegian and Jamaican hospitality with local food, live music and trips out on a RIB to tour the Glasgow entry in the 05-06 Round the World Yacht Race. Thankfully, the rain held off and the other crews joined in for a party that went on well into the night! Although this visit coincides with the Caribbean island’s rainy season, everyone is keeping their fingers crossed that it will remain dry for tonight’s prize giving ceremony at the marina.
Pirates Ahoy!: On Wednesday night, Cardiff and westernaustralia.com will host a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ beach party! Skipper Conor Fogerty and his Cardiff crew have promised to provide the entertainment whilst the Australians have been called in for their barbequing expertise. All hands on deck shipmates!
