Boatbuilder news:
Just when you thought the poker run stakes couldn’t get any higher, Baja lays down a pair of aces. Baja’s eye-catching 35 Outlaw Poker Run Edition and the brawny International® CXT are hitting the road this summer for the PokerFace Poker Run Tour. With its one-of-a-kind graphics, this rig is sure to turn heads at poker runs and other events.
This bold duo will tour the country, adding an extra dose of colour and muscle to performance boat events all season long. “The 35 Outlaw Poker Run Edition and the CXT will definitely stop traffic,” said J.R. Jenney, Baja’s director of sales. “This pair is the ultimate in power - on the road and on the water. Both are top-of-the-line in terms of performance and style. And the custom paint jobs are truly amazing.”
The International CXT is the perfect partner for the 35 Outlaw Poker Run Edition, considering its stature as the largest production pickup truck on the market, not to mention it’s strikingly bold design. The 21-foot truck will call any bluff, with its hip-high tires and nine-foot-tall cab. It can haul any road-ready load with its legendary International DT 466 diesel engine, 20-ton towing capacity and 6-ton chassis capacity.
“The CXT is a great match for the 35 Outlaw,” says Melissa Gauger, marketing manager at International Truck and Engine Corporation in Warrenville, Ill. “It’s a vehicle built to handle any load and to do it boldly. With that Baja behind it, this custom CXT will definitely draw its share of attention on the road.”
The 35 Outlaw Poker Run Edition is just as commanding, boasting all the performance features Baja is known for, from sleek hardware to weight-saving carbon fiber and Kevlar construction. But what makes this pair so unique is the custom paint job by Kustom Kolors of Marion, OH. The 35 Outlaw, named PokerFace, features an enormous card-holding skull surrounded by flames, and is an ideal match for the International CXT, which features coordinating graphics. The poker hand that served as the inspiration for the graphics and that is featured on the boat is the famous “Dead Man’s Hand” of aces and eights. Legend says that James “Wild Bill” Hickok held that hand when he was shot to death in Deadwood, S.D., in 1876. With these bold graphics, the boat and the truck create a moving mural that’s sure to elicit long stares while on the road.
“The detail of the graphics is so intricate,” said Barbara Grobicki, Baja’s director of marketing. “The combination of the custom International CXT™ with the Poker Run Edition 35 Outlaw really captures the ‘big and bad’ spirit of Baja events.”

Editors note:
A Poker Run is not a race. It's a game of chance and an assembly of some of the hottest, fastest and most exotic boats in North America, from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Even before the actual event begins, you can sense the burning fever of anticipation. Like all true blue boaters, Poker Runners are itching to head out on the open water. Sure they love the attentions of wide-eyed performance fans fawning like love-struck children over their sleek, super-fast water warriors. Sure, they listen carefully to important details outlining proper conduct, safety and rules of the road at the driver's meeting. But, like a pride of lions ready to prowl, Poker Runners are rarin' to unleash raw horsepower.
A Poker Run is fun on the water with power to burn. It's a few glorious days of performance boating at its finest, a chance to renew old acquaintances and make new friends. Each participating boat navigates a carefully charted course, stopping at five checkpoints along the route to pick up a sealed envelope containing a single playing card. At the final checkpoint, the envelopes are opened and the crew holding the best poker hand is declared the winner!
