Boat builder news:
Feadship has won many awards for its impressive advertising over the years, reflecting the group’s status as the world’s leading builder of luxury motor yachts. Its latest campaign brings to the fore the natural beauty of both Feadship yachts and the environment in which they sail.
The powerful images of Blue Moon and Rasselas, featured in the ads, provide the perfect backdrop to the ‘Quality inspires’ theme.Taken by photographer Claes Axstål, the stunning photographs have not been manipulated in any way… these are real clouds and colours. Axstål designed and built his own unique equipment for photographing large objects in full action. Called Airborne Flash Photography, the technique uses two flash heads and generators, weighing some 250 kg. Tested at Ericsson Microwave and approved by the Defense Material Administration for use inside aircraft, the flash generates sufficient power to illuminate motifs 200 meters away.
The photo shoot in the St Maarten area in January was a major logistics challenge. “Getting the helicopters, the photographer, the airborne flash equipment plus Rasselas and Blue Moon at the same time in the same place was not easy.” says Francis Vermeer, Marketing Manager at Feadship. “The cooperation of the two captains was essential in order to capture these spectacular images. But the rest was down to nature - imagine our feeling when these beautiful sunsets appeared right on cue.”
The new Feadship campaign will begin in May 2006 in all leading magazines.
Based in the Netherlands, Feadship is a cooperation between three of the most renowned names in yachting history – De Vries, Royal Van Lent and De Voogt – with combined roots dating back to 1849. Feadship is recognized as the world leader in the field of custom built motor yachts and has continuously been at the forefront of innovations in both technology and design. An aggressive expansion program now underway will allow the organization to launch up to five yachts a year, ranging in size up to 180 meters. |
