Elena Pipó & Neus Jordi:

Spanish sailor Natalia Via-Dufresne, 470 women silver medallist at the 2004 Athens Olympics will continue combining dinghy sailing and cruiser events on board Transpac 52 Santa Ana. On the second day of the 37 Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofía, team Via-Dufresne/Laia Tutzó is 17th overall following the protest hearings.

“We have had very strong winds and if the forecast remains the same until Friday it will be very tough. Favourable wind conditions for us are around 10 knots”, assured the sailor.

Via-Dufresne has not decided her participation in Beijing 2008 because, as she explained, “she is working on many projects, combining dinghy sailing and cruiser events as well as involved in Sports management master studies”. “I am not motivated to start an Olympic campaign”, she added. Regarding the level of the other competitors of this edition, the Spanish sailor indicated that “there is a very high level, it is clear teams have been training very hard and we are not yet prepared”.

“I participated for the first time in the Princesa Sofia Trophy in 1989. It is a huge top level event and it is very well organised”, she concluded.
