FLW Outdoors has announced that SIRIUS Satellite Radio will sponsor a professional angling team captained by Wal-Mart FLW Tour pro Chip Harrison. During the 2006 season, Harrison can be seen competing at various FLW Outdoors events from a SIRIUS-branded Ranger boat.

In March FLW Outdoors announced that SIRIUS signed an agreement to become the organization's official satellite radio provider and sponsor of all 12 tournament trails. In addition, SIRIUS will offer a contingency award for the remaining FLW Tour events of the 2006 season, including the 2006 Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship. To participate, pro anglers must wear a SIRIUS patch on their jerseys each day of the tournament. Pros who finish in either first or second place and wear the patch will win a SIRIUS satellite radio and a free year of subscription service.

Harrison is an accomplished veteran of the FLW Tour, having competed since its infancy in 1996. Harrison has notched eight top-10 performances in his FLW Outdoors career, including a ninth-place performance at the 2005 FLW Tour event on Wheeler Lake and a second-place finish at the season-opening 2006 FLW Tour event on Lake Okeechobee. In 1998, he won the Stren Series Southeast Division event on Lake Okeechobee, which earned him a check for $25,000 and a fully rigged Ranger boat. To date, Harrison has earned more than $275,000 fishing FLW Outdoors events.

Jim Meyer, president of operations and sales for SIRIUS Satellite Radio, said: "We're confident that our professional angling team will be successful both on the water and with bringing brand awareness to SIRIUS. We're also eager to begin our contingency program, which will reward anglers who sport SIRIUS on their jerseys. Through this exposure, we hope to further tap into the growing boating segment of satellite radio users."
