Team Ericsson:

"We have had a great race with the Pirates and Brasil 1." comments navigator Steve Hayles. We were very close and could see each other. We finally rounded the gate at 22:54. We are pretty happy with the result although we were closing in on Pirates and could have hoped to overtake them, but they managed to stay ahead."

The spirits on board Ericsson are good and the team seems to have found some of the pace it was lacking during the previous legs. "We are starting to get more confident with our speed", confirms Hayles.

Ericsson bowman David Rolfe (Dingo) commented by radio that his job hadn't been too hard since the beginning of this leg. "The water is warm and there haven't been too many manoeuvres. So from a bowman's perspective, this leg is OK. The Pirates are just ahead of us and we are working hard to try to overtake them. We will carry on fighting until Baltimore."

Ericsson scored two more points in Fernando de Noronha, and is closing the gap on Brasil 1, its closest competitor.
