Sponsorship news:
Stratos Global Corp. the leading global provider of advanced Inmarsat mobile satellite services, today announced it has been selected as the communications provider for “The Raymarine Lively Lady Project.” As the communications sponsor for the project, Stratos will provide equipment, StratosOne messaging software, and airtime for use by crewmembers for voice and data services aboard Lively Lady.
For this project, Stratos will provide Inmarsat Fleet 33 service, the latest in maritime communications technology, providing voice and high-speed data communications, including Inmarsat Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS) allowing always-on data communications for e-mail and Internet access.
The Raymarine Lively Lady Project is the brainchild of British, ocean-adventurer Alan Priddy. It offers young people, whose lives or circumstances would otherwise make it impossible, the chance to take part in a round-the world sailing challenge. However, the challenge is the icing on the cake – the real benefit lies in the training the young adults will undertake to prepare for the trip. Through this training, in the months before departure, they will gain valuable life skills, enabling them to set their lives on track and achieve their potential and personal goals.
Priddy will be taking solo yachtsman Sir Alec Rose's legendary yacht, Lively Lady, around the world again. This time around Lively Lady will have a crew of four on each of 29 legs, made up of Alan Priddy, a co-skipper and a crew of two young adults.
"The launch of The Raymarine Lively Lady Project is a dream-come-true for me," said Alan Priddy. "Sir Alec Rose was one of my childhood role models and the reason I got involved in sailing, so I feel very privileged to be continuing where he left off."
“This is a tremendous opportunity for Stratos to be part of history in the making,” said Hugh Donnan, regional marketing manager for Stratos. “For any maritime enthusiast, Lively Lady represents the pursuit of excellence in ocean voyaging. Using this vessel to help educate youth was always Sir Alec’s goal, and we are proud to be helping Alan continue this work.” |
