Boat show news:
The highly-successful Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will offer the largest on water leisure and light commercial display ever staged in Australia at this year’s May 2006 event.
At a media launch, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show general manager Barry Jenkins announced expanded marina and hardstand displays would create national records.
“We’ll have the largest number of vessels over 80ft ever assembled at a boat show in Australia,” said Mr Jenkins. The 2006 Boat Show features an extra 500 linear metres of marina plus a further 1500sqm of hardstand display. At this stage, at least eight motor yachts (80ft or larger) are expected for the 2006 show staged Thursday, May 18 to Sunday, May 21. The expansion means visitors to this year’s show can walk along 3km of piers to view marina displays while pavilion and hardstand exhibition areas approach 16,000sqm,“ said Mr Jenkins. If placed bow to stern, the vessels would extend around 3.8km. We’ve been overwhelmed with demand with last year’s exhibitors requesting expanded space as well as interest from new exhibitors,” said Mr Jenkins.
The 2006 event will feature an exciting line-up of world launches. Azzura Yachts’ 100ft Cambria II luxury motor launch is expected to turn heads. Azzura’s Paul Wrench says the classic 1930s style design resembles a gentleman’s cruiser with mahogany finishes, state of the art electronics and capacity to sleep 14 people. The custom-made vessel built on the Gold Coast has a price tag of almost $A12m.
Other leading Australian manufacturers planning launches at Sanctuary Cove include:
Sunrunner’s world launch of the Sunrunner 3100 sports cruiser;
The world release of the Maritimo 48;
The unveiling of the new Riviera 56 Enclosed Flybridge;
The release of Southbeach, a totally new Australian-made 6.6m multi-purpose fibreglass family day boat designed by Kencraft Marine;
The world launch of Stacer’s 2006 series;
And the display of Gold Rush Power Boat’s luxury 29ft offshore sportsfisher on the world stage. The Australian made vessel hits the market following two years’ research.
Mr Jenkins said leading yacht brands plan to release products on the Australian market at Sanctuary Cove such as Jeanneau, the new Catana 47 Ocean Class and Polish import, Delphia’s D40 and D37 models. “We’ve currently registered around 286 exhibitors.”
Australian company Euroyachts brings 17 vessels to Sanctuary Cove, its largest showcase in its eight-year involvement with the Sanctuary Cove event. The display includes $A20.5m worth of Princess vessels, (Princess 21M, V53 and updated 2006 version of V65), a Viking 56 Convertible, Jeanneau Runabout 755 and Sun Odyssey 54 DS (sail).
Sunseeker Motor Yachts’ impressive multimillion dollar display includes the Manhattan 66 and the Portofino 53 Sports Cruiser. Other Australian launches of prominent imported brands include Grand Banks (44 Heritage EU, 47 Eastbay Flybridge), Four Winns’ 278 and 318 Vista models, the Volvo Penta Inboard Propulsion System (IPS) Joystick Docking System and the launch of new MTU Series 700 diesels coupled to optional Konrad Sterndrives.
“The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show delivers real results to exhibitors – some of our 2005 exhibitors have received enough orders to carry them through 2006,” said Mr Jenkins.
Streamlined park ‘n’ ride transport arrangements apply for Show entry. Sanctuary Cove , located in south-east Queensland at Australia’s leading integrated residential resort . Sponsors include Channel 7, Creek to Coast, Trade a Boat, Classic Hits 4KQ, Queensland Government, The Gold Coast Bulletin, Maritime Safety Queensland, Gold Coast City Council and Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove. |
