47 year old Tatsuro Maeji, an official of the Japan Sailing Federation and a member of its special Olympic committee, has been arrested.

Investigators said that Maeji had performed indecent acts, last October, in a hotel in Nagoya's Naka-ku, with a 17 year old girl. The meeting had been arranged after he got to know the girl through an Internet match making site. The girl alleged that Maeji had promised to pay her 10,000 yen.

Police say that Maeji is suspected of being involved in child prostitution; he denies the accusations, saying that he had no idea the girl was under 18.

Maeji has been an honorary professor at Japan’s National Institute of Fitness and Sports, in Kanoya, where he researched windsurfing and had coached surfers as a member of the Japan Sailing Federation' special Olympic committee. He also acted as secretary to the 2005 Mistral Formula Asian Championship Local Organising Authority Office
