Carlos 'Lua' Mauro:

A little bit before the strike of 7AM GMT, ABN AMRO ONE took the lead form movistar. In a 24 hour run that has already produced 462 miles, Black Betty, skippered by Mike Sanderson opened a 5 miles advantage to the Spanish boat that is seeking a position more to the South.

Behind them Pirates, Brasil 1 (that lost 3rd position soon at 706 AM GMT after the change in the lead) and ABN AMRO TWO follow very close to each other, with the Brazilian boat insisting on the North side of the track.

With all boats having posted a 400 miles plus ride in the last 24 hours the perspectives of an early arrival in Wellington grow enormously, provided the conditions do not get to tricky on Cook Strait.
