Product news:

The two products are used, for example, in: yachting, where they are used for bulkheads, mostly to attenuate noise, especially from engine vibrations; building for doors, decorative panels and facade panels with metal facings (the last type of panel, which are up to 6 metres long and 0.9 metre wide, are lightweight, stiff, flat, and easily handled, and they do not warp under exposure to heat).

nidaplast Honeycombs inventor and specialist in extruded polypropylene honeycomb materials, is pushing the envelope in solutions for mass production with the development and launch of its nidapan line, thermowelding to a glass-fibre/PP reinforcement on the core, and of its new economical nestaplast line. This last line is designed for use in the bonding of facings, using both traditional techniques and cheaper ones that make use of heat-sealing films.

These hexagonal-celled structural honeycombs come in thicknesses that vary from 5 to 150 millimetres. They have very good mechanical properties, in particular for compression and impact resistance. They are lightweight, rot-proof and provide both heat and sound insulation. They are also recyclable, chemically inert and environmentally friendly.

As Marketing and Development Manager Richard Filippi says, “the composites market is using thermoplastics more and more. One example of this is the combination of polypropylene honeycomb with a reinforcement of the Twintex® type. These products are highly suitable for mass production because they are easily and rapidly processed. They already have a foothold in the automotive industry, and should find more and more applications in the building & construction, yachting, and transport sectors.”

“These days we are designing highly specific honeycomb solutions for and with our customers.”.
