Boat show news:

Wave magazine has announced its launch of the $1 million "WaveAuction" online boat auction at the Miami International Boat Show, February 16-20. Based in Miami, Wave is South Florida's premier water-related activities magazine and became a national and monthly publication on its second anniversary this month.

Wave's launch of the nationwide auction of three brand new boats with suggested retail prices from $28,000 to more than $100,000 at Wave-Auction.com will comprise the first phase of a rolling auction of some of the most popular sleek and powerful pleasure craft available from leading boat manufacturers. The first three boats up for auction in February include:

2006 Glastron SX195, a 19-foot family runabout, with a 5.0 GL Volvo Penta engine and single axle galvanized trailer, MSRP over $28,000. Bidding will start at $1 with no reserve.

2006 Wellcraft 232 Fisherman, a 23-foot center console, with a F225 Yamaha engine, with MSRP over $58,000.

2006 Four Winns 278 Vista, a 28-foot cruiser, with a 280 horsepower Volvo Penta engine. The MSRP is more than $108,000. This one will be a sealed bid/silent auction.

Boat show visitors can bid at the Internet Cafe sponsored by Wave at the Miami Beach Convention Center or at their convenience anywhere there is Internet access. Prospective bidders across the U.S. also will be able to fully participate by having the opportunity to "inspect" the boats at over 400 participating dealers that make copies of Wave available in their showrooms. The initial auction will commence Feb. 16, 2005 and close Feb. 23, 2006 at 11:59 PM.

Wave magazine promotes boating and water-related recreation. It is a keepsake publication covering things to do in, on and around the water -- such as boating, fishing, and diving, watersports, waterfront living/development, dining and travel.

Beginning with the 132-page gala February issue, Wave will double its frequency to monthly and will be available through a network of more than 1,000 participating boat dealers nationwide, including independent dealers and national chains such as West Marine, Boater's World, BoatUS, Boat Owners Warehouse and World Watersports.

"The $1 million new boats auction is our way of thanking boating enthusiasts in South Florida and nationwide for their support of the publication and to help build our presence as a leading online boating and watersports resource," said Wave Publisher/President Jose Chao. "Our partnership with boat dealers in markets across the country will enable enthusiasts everywhere to examine the new boats as they are made available and participate as never before in the exciting auction process."
