Simon Fisher:
It has been 24 hours of pounding upwind for us here on ABN AMRO TWO. We have started to get freed off a little now which is coming as a welcome relief as the boat speed is back up well into the teens, a speed we have been much more accustomed to travelling at! However the ride continues to be pretty bloody uncomfortable - the extra 3 or 4 knots of pace means we spend even more time out of the water as we launch off of the waves we were once pounding into!!
Sleeping and moving around the boat has again become near impossible as everyone and everything gets tossed around inside the boat as the boat jumps around over the waves. However, right now I think everyone is more than happy to take a bit of extra pain in order to be in Melbourne quickly. The miles seem to drop off more and more slowly as everyone gets more and more impatient to finish. There's no denying this has been an awesome leg for us but right now, with everything running low we are ready to finish!
Still, as I reminded from time to time - patience is a virtue. For now it's back to the hard work of trying to keep up with the black boat and stretching ahead of Movistar...
Cheers,
SiFi. Simon Fisher - navigator
