Bouwe Bekking:

After 12 days at sea I gave myself the privilege of a little wash. Not that I felt like it, but realised that I just stink terribly, and have to show a bit of respect to my other 9 mates onboard. So got the baby wipes out, and used them with pleasure. OOHps, the first one is nearly black after one wipe, the 2nd one not much better, and the last one........... I gave up. Probably 10 packages wouldn't been enough to clean this boy up. There is one thing I do daily and that is brushing my teeth. It feels for me the same as having a shower. Others onboard run a different theory on brushing teeth. There is one onboard, and I won't say his name, who reckons the thicker the layer of coverage on his teeth, the better it will protect you from the sugars etc. Better don't tell the kids his theory.

Back to movistar sailing, because that is still what we are doing. Besides the fact that we have the same hydraulic rams as Ericsson, the same deck structure as Brasil, and assuming a similar lay-out keel pin arrangement as the pirates, we are in good shape. Bu we are awake like foxes, and checking the boat regularly.

At moment we are slipping along nicely, gaining a bit on the boats in front, who fair to say, sail in less pressure. It is still super wet on deck and as well downstairs, although not cold, we can't wait for some rays on our bodies again. The guys are doing well, nice atmosphere onboard, not a single grumpy person, and all in good shape. One note: Spike (Peter Doriean) must be a hot person in Melbourne; the Aussie "paparazzi" is chasing him for information, several requests a day!! Spike

not only sailing on movistar, back home he will be a Movie-star.

The winch debacle has been fixed by the winch wizards Xabi (Xabier Fernandez) and Spike. They have swapped the mainsheet winch with the spinnaker winch, and someway, somehow, they managed to get the broken winch turning again. Good that they carried so many spares for occasions like this. The mainsail sheet is not very loaded since we sail with a spinnaker, so the cracks in the drum don't make any noises. Would be funny to see our faces the first time we have to fully load this winch.

I am missing my girls, who by now should have arrived in Aussie. The 14 15 days prediction for this leg is unfortunately not holding up so can spend less time with them. Better keep driving this puppy fast. And a bit of secret language to finish movistar daily report with. Knus og kram for Laura, husk jeg har din steen!!!
