Chris Martin:
This is the proper way to do Castaway. Okay I’m in the early stages and still on the lookout for a tropical island to land on but with no oars it should just be a matter of time before I hit land. None of that Ben Fogle-BBC series-stuck on an island with just yourself and 30 other people and a TV crew stuff this is the proper thing. Mainly because the camera has broken so I won’t even be able to sell the video to a production company. I’m gutted. Still the viewers ratings would be even lower than that of (Not particularly celebrity) Big Brother so maybe it’s a blessing in disguise.
The support yacht have been called to boat number 88 on a medical query so after that I should be back on top of the list and they should be with me tomorrow night or early the next morning. It has to be said though that bobbing around in the middle of one of the World’s largest oceans is dull. After all the excitement of the capsize entertainment levels have sunk to a new low. Lucky has decided not to play because (as the foam padding for the seats has gone) I think she’s worked out what her fate may be. I’ve been listening to music and reading Cathy Freeman’s Autobiography and doing even more Suduko (which I actually seem to be getting worse at). I’ve managed to dry a few things out but they just get damp again in the sealed cabin. Waves keep breaking over the boat and why they don’t leave much water on deck (maybe a buckets worth, this will then drain out via the scuppers leaving the deck dry) it does make sitting outside rather miserable.
I tried to clean the bottom of the boat but the waves kept bouncing the boat around all over the place making it impossible to do anything useful, although as I got round to the rudder I did notice a small fish maybe 3″ long, suckered onto the side of the boat. No wonder we’ve been going so slow we’ve got a passenger. I charged him for the full one way fare but he claimed to have lost his wallet! Honestly.
I was going to go for a run before realising that I’d forgotten my gym kit and trainers. D’oh. Looks like I’m going to have to wait it out.
If anyone has any quiz type questions, logical puzzles or fancies a game of postal battleships then please text them in.
Yours in boredom
Christoph
