Mary Scott-Jackson:

The Little Britain Challenge Cup, the construction industry sailing regatta, saw the 2005 event raising nearly Ł150,000 for their chosen charities – a 50% increase on the previous year.

The LBCC Committee will be presenting cheques to their principal charities – the Jubilee Sailing Trust, Cirdan Sailing Trust and the Ellen MacArthur Trust – immediately after the opening ceremony on Press Day at the London Boat Show.

An announcement will also be made of the LBCC’s commitment to supporting the Paralympic Sailing Team for the 2012 Olympics. It is anticipated that Ł150,000 will be donated by the LBCC over the next 6 years. Stephen Park, the RYA Olympic Manager said, “The Little Britain Challenge Cup’s support for our Paralympic sailors is a fantastic boost at this stage of the programme. With just over two years left until the 2008 Paralympic Games, it will certainly help increase our medal-winning opportunities.” Representatives of the team will be at the London Boat Show to receive the first of the cheques.
