Wild Oats and Alfa Romeo are now less than 200 miles from Hobart. Bob Oates super maxi is 19 miles in the lead and Neville Crichton, on Alfa Romeo, does not seem able to do anything to make up ground on his arch rival.
The real racing is going on behind these too, especially in the peloton, where 15 boats – including veteran Lou Ambrahams’ Challenge - are separated by less than 14 miles. No less than 4 boats in this pack are 412 miles from the finish.
