Emily and Sarah:

Four of FIRE's competitors did better than 20 miles during the last day but most were as FIRE, at a standstill, that is, until mid-morning when 10knot winds out of the north allowed for the oars to once again do their work. Max speed at the moment is 1 knot, a lot better than they have done in days. FIRE is 10 miles behind their position on the 15th!!! That lingering low kept the wind and seas on the nose and rowing made no sense. Things should improve during the day and hopefully by tomorrow the expected NWerlies should appear to produce a more condusive rowing environment.

Emily got triggered this morning!! She and I must get the full story, had a meat ball in her hand and she leaned over the side with it and a fish jumped up and ate it!!! Sounds like another fishy FIRE story. When Sarah described the fish to me yesterday I saw them as trigger fish, and now with the latest, there is no doubt they are trigger fish, nasty little devils with a small mouth and voracious, like piranhas. Guess I am the world trigger fish guru as I caught more than 10 each day while on the raft... with my hands. The rascals would bite me even after I had gutted them and removed both filets! Mean. I must now work on Sarah to stay out of the water 'cause they would love to nibble on her.

Well, let's see how they do tonight.
