Sally, Claire, Sue and Jo:

Following various requests for descriptions of the food that is sustaining us throughout our epic voyage, we decided to invite a well known food critic along to sample the delights that come out of the Rowgirl kitchen. This was the report from Jo Ronay; Limited by a single burner gas stove and keeping the weight of the boat down the Rowgirl Restaurant typically produces three meals a day interspersed by various snacks throughout.Upon arrival, i was invited to sit in the most popular position on a green gardening cushion with a stunning view of two buxom beautiful rowers who pump away at the oars while your dinner is prepared upon a smartly gimbled stove. The atmosphere is jolly despite the lack of music, although if you are lucky, you may be given a rendition by Sally Kettle, a Z list celeb who is a regular and has a tendency to spontaneously grab the mic and sing to her hearts content.

The food is served in elegant blue plastic bowls or straight from the bag depending on the laziness of the kitchen staff.

I was treated to cod and potato casserole, the house special, washed down with an eloquent bottle of 2005 Chateau Spectra purified sea water. The casserole had a certain je ne sais quoi about it - perhaps the large chunks of rehydrated cod surrounded by various mush resembling potatoes. I was at least offered a choice of heinz tommy k or worcestershire sauce to jazz up the dish.

To follow, a large bowl of rich chocolate mousse was placed before me. While fairly tasty it was somewhat powdery still and lacked a certain refinement. When I exclaimed upon the richness of the mousse, I was told that you need all 500 calories that comes in the bowl!

So to summarise, I wouldn't think this particular restaurant will be awarded any Michelin stars this year...However, there will be awarded a prize for the greatest flap jack ever to have been tasted, although this cannot be credited to the restaurant staff as it has been imported from the kitchens of Carol and Liz.

All for now
