At sea. Atlantic Rowing Race: satellite phone a comfort during shark attack PDF Print E-mail

Rachael Littlejohn:

Iain and Tara sincerely thank Tech Rentals for their generous sponsorship of their satellite phone for the 2005 Atlantic Rowing Race. The fact that Team Sun Latte could ring race HQ during the shark attack helped them keep their heads.

Once the story of the shark attack reached friends and family all have been anxious to hear how they are. Iain spent a good amount of time on the Tech Rentals phone calming down his sobbing 9 year old daughter Olivia. He had thought she would be safely away from news of the attack whilst on holiday in Scotland, however she had phoned NZ to speak with a friend and being told "your dad's been attacked by a shark". Thanks again Tech Rentals.

The wind has finally moved to the north and heading to the north east. Team Sun Latte are thrilled to be rowing again - a welcome relief after being on sea anchor for more than 3 days. The bad shark jokes are coming thick and fast, much laughter, mixed with a paranoia of dark shapes in the waves.

Thanks to all those who have posted messages on the Message Board. Please keep them coming - Tara and Iain really appreciate them!

Team Sunlatte is crewed by Tara Remington and Iain Rudkin from New Zealand
