Teresa Page:
Its time to set those New Years resolutions again but each year it becomes increasingly difficult to find something that will improve your lifestyle permanently. Get fit, loose weight, stop drinking, stop smoking and get a better job are just some of the most common ones but how about setting a resolution this Year that combines all of these and many more, in an exciting and adventurous way.
The Atlantic Rowing Race 2007 is the ultimate in extreme, endurance adventures and a totally life changing experience available to anyone, anywhere. Starting from La Gomera in the Canary Islands in November 2007, teams across two classes for Pairs and Fours will race 2,550 nm across the Atlantic Ocean to Antigua in the West Indies. Competing in identical purpose built ocean rowing boats within their respective class, teams will compete on a level playing field for the accolade of being the first to cross the finish line and in the fastest possible time.
With core values including motivation, determination, endurance, teamwork, lateral thinking and above all the ability to push yourself further than ever before, the Atlantic Rowing Race is a perfect tool to develop your personal skills and attributes.
The experience alone of being one the privileged few to enter an environment relatively unspoilt by modern day living, to witness marine wildlife in its natural habitat, to see spectacular sunrises and sunsets and to take on and survive the full force of the Atlantic ocean is a humbling experience.
You too can join the men and women from all around the world in this unique adventure and anyone between the age of 18 and 65 is eligible to enter. Previous rowing or ocean experience is not a pre requisite and in the past, team combinations consisting of a mother and son, couples, brothers, television celebrities and even a double convicted murderer and his parole officer have taken part. There are no limits and the Atlantic Rowing Race proves that ordinary people can achieve the extraordinary.
“Only those who will risk going too far, can possibly find out how far one can go” – T.S. Eliot
The entry list for the Atlantic Rowing Race 2007 is now open and filling up fast so don’t be disappointed, pick up the phone and enter a team now!
