BMF news:

The Statistics and Market Research department are in the process of conducting a comprehensive review of the UK boating industry to determine how it has changed over the last 5 years.

The annual industry statistics carried out by BMF is sourced from our members, with an estimation for non-members to produce total marine revenue and employee figures. The model to predict figures for non-member was drawn up five years ago and is under review.

We will also be piloting an ICOMIA initiative to deliver comparable statistics internationally.

A BMF Statistics Working Group with member representatives has been set up and a successful meeting was held at Marine House last week. Region and Group Chairman and Secretaries are also playing an active part in using their expertise to verify the revisions made.

The change to our financial year-end to June means the member turnover declaration forms will be distributed in spring 2006 rather than autumn 2005.

The next industry bulletin report will therefore be published at the London Boat Show 2007. The Economic Benefits of the UK Boating Industry will be launched at the next London Boat Show in the new year.
