Company news:

Suntec Integrated Media (SIM), organiser of Boat Asia, Asia’s Leading Leisure Boat Show and ONE°15 Marina Club, Asia's newest and most state-of-the-art marina development, have jointly announced that they will collaborate in a combined marketing presence at Phuket International Marine Expo 2005 (PIMEX).

Boat Asia and ONE°15 Marina Club will base their promotional efforts at their booth at PIMEX. Boat Asia 2006 will be held once again at ONE°15 Marina Club and Sentosa Cove. The venue is the region's future boating and lifestyle destination and generally lauded by exhibitors as an excellent venue for the Boat Asia 2006 event, especially with the recent completion of the marina pontoons and the ability to receive megayacht berthings.

In Phuket, SIM is expected to announce rapid growth in bookings for Boat Asia 2006. Roel van Leeuwen, Director of Suntec Integrated Media, reported that 68 percent of show space had already been booked as of press time. "Because of the tremendous increased awareness for waterfront living currently being generated by Sentosa Cove and ONE°15 Marina Club, we are witnessing invigorated exhibitor interest in next year's show. Consequently, we anticipate more VIP marquees and increased display boats at next year’s show”.

Van Leeuwen will also unveil at PIMEX a major visitor campaign that will be launched in February 2006, designed to drive increased overseas boat-buying visitors to Boat Asia 2006. In addition, Boat Asia's Exclusive Night which this year will be held at one of Singapore's most prestigious luxury hotels, The Fullerton, is expected to give a whole new level of glamour to Asia's favorite leisure boat show.

Singapore entrepreneur Arthur Tay, the Chairman of ONE°15 Marina Club warmly welcomed the collaboration at PIMEX. "It makes perfect sense for us to combine our promotional and visibility efforts at the Phuket Boat Show," he said. "It's only fitting that Asia's most state of the art marina and only purpose-built megayacht facility in the region plays host to Asia's top boat show, Boat Asia 2006. We embrace the opportunities for marketing and promotional synergy which this initiative will generate," he said.

ONE°15 Marina Club recently completed the second phase of its membership drive, which saw a quarter of the projected 4,000 memberships already sold. The club also recently announced the completion of the marina pontoons and the opening of the marina for yacht berthing a full two years ahead of schedule. As of press time, the marina has now delivered 130 completed berths, 30 more than the number of berths required by landlord Sentosa Cove Pte Ltd.

Tay said that ONE°15 Marina hoped to attract interest from Phuket and Thailand-based yacht owners seeking seasonal relocation of the boats to Singapore. “Yachts in the Asia region tend to move around quite a bit to avoid the Monsoon period. We’d love to see an arrangement whereby Thai boat owners shift their boats down to Singapore during the Thai Monsoon season, and Singapore owners relocate their boats to Phuket or Jomtien for the Singapore Monsoon. The regional marina industry in Asia has to be cooperative in nature if we are to develop the yachting industry for the region as a whole. That’s why it’s important for us to be at the Phuket Boat Show at this time, to reach more Thai owners and Thai-based expatriate owners.

Boat Asia and ONE°15 Marina Club plan to hold a cocktail reception for exhibitors, guests, friends and the media on Friday, 9 December 2005 in conjunction with Adkom at PIMEX. Adkom, the publisher of Asia Pacific Boating and China Boating, will be bringing the prestigious Christofle Asia Boating Awards to Boat Asia's Exclusive Night 2006.
