BMF news:

Supported by UK Trade and Investment and organised in close collaboration with the British Consulates in Milan and Naples, TYHA delivered last week in Rimini a seminar on marina development to an audience that included a number of private marinas located all along the Venice bay, on the Adriatic coast. The session was opened by Laurence Bristow-Smith, Deputy British Consul General of Trade in Italy and lead by Roberto Galli of the Consulate in Milan.

The participating marinas belong to the Adriatic yacht harbour association (Associazione Italiana Porti Turistici dell'Adriatico) whose chairman, Dr. Roberto Perocchio, who played an active role prior and during the event. With a total of 47 members, this group currently offers 22.000 moorings to boaters.

Lead by TYHA's chairman Sam Bourne and assisted by Manuel Sevilla from BMF, the programme allowed 7 UK providers of marina development services and equipment an opportunity to raise the profile of British capability in this field while promoting their organisations amongst the group of Italian marina managers.

The UK delegation then flew to Naples where it was received by Pippo Saraceno from the British Consulate and then met with Ms Brunella Rallo of the Campania Region department in charge of yacht harbours. She gave a detailed presentation of the master plan for the development of marinas in the area, followed by a visit to Marina di Stabia, as a live example of an on-going large scale project, in this case privately run.

A follow up meeting with the Italian hosts is being scheduled for the 12th January in the International Lounge at the London Boat Show. For further details, contact Sue Lambert of TYHA on slambert@britishmarine.co.uk
