José Miguel Díaz Escrich, Commodore of the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba, will be attending the Cannes Boat Show in his capacity of yachting ambassador for his country.
Commodore Escrich told BYM News "My objective is conveying a friendly greeting from our Yacht Club to those with which we wish to establish fraternal and collaboration relations in subjects linked with the life of the Clubs. We hope that these relations contribute to widening and strengthening the already existing relations with the international boating community."
"Taking advantage of this trip to Europe, I will be meeting Presidents, Executives & Commodores of Yacht Clubs & Industry Associations from Great Britain, Ireland and France. My visit also coincides with the Boat Shows of Southampton and Cannes and this will give me the opportunity of improving my knowledge and enriching the experiences I have acquired, as well as being an opportunity to compare the profiles of these Boat Shows with others I have participated at; for example, Toronto Boat Show, Genoa Boat Show, Miami Boat Show, Paris Boat Show, Barcelona Boat Show and, of course, I will get the opportunity to learn more about the organization and participation of the nautical sector."
"As a result of invitations extended by the Irish Marine Institute, I will be participating in the MAYA Conference and will also attend the Ireland meeting of the International Marinas Committee of ICOMIA, in the rôle of Advisory Member.
"I am convinced that Cuba has the potential to develop its recreational boating sector and one of the main objectives of our yacht club is to make a contribution towards creating the conditions for this development." |
