In an exclusive statement to BYM News, Jules Verne holder Bruno Peyron has commented on his own legal action against Tracy Edwards and his feelings about the impact the Edwards saga has had on sailing. He said:
"As a matter of fact, I do not have much to say about this matter, as I anticipated a long time ago that the procedure would probably end by obtaining a judgment that would be unenforceable against her for reasons of bankruptcy. Nonetheless, I thought it important to respond on principle to her actions, regardless of the outcome."
"Afterwards, I was uninterested in accepting any compromise with her, including participating in her "event" as she proposed. Instead, I decided last winter to concentrate on the Jules Verne with my sponsor, Orange."
"Yes, I knew we were right and, of course, anticipated the end of the story at the very start of it, but I have too many interesting things to do in life, rather than fighting forever with stupid and unprofessional people, who have no vision whatsoever about the best interest of our sailing world. So, the only thing I can really say is that it's about time that this bad joke is finally over, that she is exposed for what she really is, and that people like this are out of business!"
"The only extremely sad thing is to realise how much has been destroyed by this; just ask sponsors their opinion. The only good news is that the G Class innovation process can restart now, on solid ground but after losing 3 years!"
"I hope people will remember just what and how much our sailing world "owes" to this person and those who so quickly and thoughtlessly accepted to play this destructive game with her. Other than that, I don't want to comment anymore on this ....... life is too full of interesting people to waste too much time with those who are not."
