Press release:

Defender Industries Inc. today announced a 27 percent increase in August same store sales over the same period a year ago. This continues the positive sales results for the discount marine supplier at a time when marine sales including competitors' sales are lagging. 2005 marks the third year in a row Defender has posted record sales.

Al Knupp, Executive Director, stated, "As boaters struggle with rising fuel prices, they are looking for ways to continue enjoying their passion without emptying their wallets. Our strong sales prove there is no substitute for the overall value only a broad offering of brand-name, quality products, in stock for immediate shipment, at great prices with friendly, knowledgeable Customer Service can provide." Knupp attributes much of the success to Defender's knowledgeable Staff, with nearly a thousand years of collective boating experience.

Internet sales lead the growth with Boats & Motors again posting the largest gains. "We've doubled our volume over 2004 in deluxe RIBs," explained Stephan Lance, Defender Vice President. "More and more people are getting into inflatable boats as their primary boat versus buying them as tenders for a larger boat. For less money than most conventional fiberglass boats, one can buy a boat, motor, and trailer package that is fun and safe for the whole family." Lance further commented, "Defender also continues as the largest dealer in the world of Heritage kayaks with many hundreds sold already this year."

Founded in 1938, Defender Industries is a family-owned marine outfitter and supplier of quality boating equipment, supplies, accessories, apparel, inflatable boats and outboard motors for serious boaters worldwide via catalog & the internet.
