BYM News has been told that the Land's End's owner is, through his agent (Gaspard Yachts), actively sounding out repair and refit yards with a view to identifying those interested in quoting for the work of rebuilding the 75 metre yacht, which went aground and then sank, off Corsica, last month.

The yacht is believed to have an insured value of around $3.5 million and is, in the opinion of insurance experts that BYM has spoken to, a constructive total loss, but a source close to the yacht's owner told BYM "He loves that boat and wants it rebuilt. He is sounding people out about that." When asked whether the owner had been to the scene of the sinking, the reply was "No, he has complete faith in Captain Chris Jones and his agent and is leaving them to deal with the operation of raising her and looking into the repair options."

Equipment required for the operation to lift the Land's End continues to arrive at the scene.
