For the first time in sailing history, the 470 Class North American Championships http://www.470classnachampionship.org/ are being held on San Francisco Bay. 60 2-person teams, in both men and women's divisions, from 17 countries will be competing. Each race, for four days beginning Saturday, August 13, is along a designated course in the water south of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and will last for about 60 minutes. All races will begin about 1:30 p.m. The 470 sailing boat is an Olympic class dinghy.
