A contract has been signed between the owner of the yacht Land's End and Tiberi, a specialist in marine salvage. A representative of Tiberi is currently examining the 400 tonne yacht to ascertain the best way to seal the hull breaches.

Captain Chris Jones was scheduled to appear in court, at Ajaccio this afternoon, where he was expected to face charges of "endangering life by negligence and imprudence" and "wilfully polluting the maritime environment."

The Azimut 100, Mr Z, has been moved from the island of Greben, where it ran aground on Tuesday, and has been taken to Silba for damage assessment. A spokesman for the harbour authorities told BYM "In view of the enquiries taking place, concerning this incident, I am not authorised to give any further information.
