Press release:
The West Midlands Region of The Inland Waterways Association (IWA) and the Worcester Birmingham Canal Society will be celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the meeting that led to the formation of the Association in 1946 and the development of the modern inland waterways movement.
There will be a boat rally and open weekend at Tardebigge Wharf, on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal, near Bromsgrove, over the weekend 13 to 14th August 2005. The event will include a re-enactment of the scene in 1945 when, Robert Aickman travelled from London to meet Tom Rolt, then living at Tardebigge on his boat Cressy. The wharf building will be open with crafts and displays, representing the celebrations shortly after the end of the War, and working boats and vehicles from the period will be displayed. |
