Capt. Jeff Hagaman and James Goodwin of Team Century/Nextel werethe first anglers to weigh-in during the inaugural Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series, and managed holding on to their first place position, besting 125 teams to win the two-day event in Sarasota this past weekend.

Hagaman, of Lutz, Fla., and Goodwin, of Palm Harbor, Fla., caught a two-day total of four redfish weighing 29 pounds, 3 ounces and won $25,000 plus the $12,500 Yamaha Bonus for a grand total of $37,500.

Running a Century 2202 powered by a Yamaha F250 V6 4-Stroke engine, Team Century was able to quickly reach their prime fishing spot more than 60 miles away. “Both James and myself were impressed with the speed and durability of our Century 2202 bay boat, and we attribute much of our success to our boat’s performance,” said Hagaman.

According to Hagaman, Team Century caught six redfish on the first day in poor conditions, including a strong wind and cool weather. “We made the same run on the second day of the tournament, and caught around 20 total redfish.”

Team Century/Nextel, consisting of Capt. Jeff Totten of Englewood, Fla. and Brandon Naeve of Nokomis, Fla. also scored a top 15 finish, ending the two-day event in 13th place.
